What Kind of Food Does Candelaria Serve?

Candelaria blends Colombian flavors with American favorites. You'll find burgers and sandwiches next to plantains, yuca and Colombian chorizo, and the menu makes the two feel like they always belonged together.

It's also easy to miss if you don't know where to look. Candelaria sits in the same Thomas Street building as The Iron Village gym, which makes it a very convenient place to undo a workout.

What to Order at Candelaria

The menu moves easily between Colombian dishes and familiar American favorites. You'll find arepas, Colombian breakfast dishes and bites alongside burgers, sandwiches and fusion plates.

The fusion side of the menu is where things get especially interesting. Options include dishes such as Mazorcada, along with combinations featuring Colombian chorizo and chicharrón. Bowls offer another option when you want something different from a sandwich or burger.

On the side, look for yuca fries or plantains, either sweet or green. Empanadas and other Colombian bites also make the menu easy to share if you're ordering for a group.

Is Candelaria Good for Breakfast?

Candelaria opens at 8 a.m. six days a week, and breakfast is a much bigger part of the menu than you might expect if you've only stopped in for lunch.

You'll find Colombian breakfast dishes including calentao and arepas alongside eggs, breakfast sandwiches and coffee. That makes it just as useful for an early breakfast as it is for lunch later in the day.

Sunday hours are shorter, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Does Candelaria Cater?

Yes. Candelaria offers catering with advance scheduling and custom quotes for larger orders. Catering options include Colombian bites and other shareable items from the restaurant's menu.

Orders should be arranged ahead of time rather than treated as a same-day option.

What It's Like to Eat There

Candelaria has grown well beyond being the new restaurant Wildwood Living first wrote about in 2024. The menu has expanded, but the combination that made it interesting in the first place is still there: Colombian flavors alongside familiar dishes that make it easy to bring someone who may be trying the cuisine for the first time.

And because it shares 4059 Thomas Street with The Iron Village, there's an obvious local dilemma waiting next door: finish a workout and immediately decide whether an arepa counts as recovery food.

We won't settle that debate.

Before You Go

Hours and menu items can change, so check Candelaria's website or call ahead before making a special trip. If you're in a hurry, ordering online directly from the restaurant is an easy way to plan ahead.
