Privacy policy

Wildwood Living is a local magazine, not a data business. We collect as little as possible, we do not sell anything about you, and we do not run advertising profiles.

Effective August 20, 2026

Who we are

Wildwood Living publishes an independent local magazine for Wildwood, Florida. This policy covers this website.

What we collect

Browsing this site. Our hosting and delivery infrastructure processes the technical information any web server needs to serve a page: your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested and the time of the request. These records exist to deliver the site securely and diagnose faults.

Measurement. Every advertising and analytics permission starts switched off on every page load, and what happens next depends on where you are visiting from.

Where prior consent is required (including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and anywhere we have not reviewed, as well as any visit where we cannot tell the region), we ask first. Nothing that measures your visit loads at all until you choose Accept analytics. If you decline, nothing loads.

In the United States, where notice and an opt-out are the standard, privacy-friendly analytics is on when you arrive and we show a short notice saying so, with a link to turn it off. That is a notice, not consent: we record it as such, and if you later visit from a region where consent is required, measurement stops and we ask you properly instead.

What measurement means here. When analytics is on we load Google Tag Manager and, through it, Google Analytics 4, to record which pages are viewed and which links are followed. Advertising storage, ad personalisation and advertising identifiers stay switched off permanently, everywhere, for everyone. We run no advertising tags at all. We never pass anything you type (a message, an address, a form answer or a file name) into measurement. Staff sign-in, our editorial workspace and private preview pages are never measured.

Turning it off, and Global Privacy Control. Use Privacy Choices in the footer at any time, in any region, to allow or turn off analytics. Turning it off stops future measurement and deletes our analytics cookies, and we remember that refusal. No regional rule can switch it back on. If your browser or an extension sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal everywhere and load no measurement at all.

Contacting us. When you use the contact and corrections form, we store the name, email address, message and optional page link you choose to give us, together with the reason you selected and the page you sent it from. We use that only to answer you and to check and fix the record you told us about, and it is emailed to our editorial desk. We keep it for as long as we need to handle the enquiry and to keep a record of any correction we made. We do not add you to a mailing list.

To limit automated abuse of that form we also store a one-way, salted fingerprint of the sending network address. It cannot be turned back into an IP address and is not used to profile you.

Accounts. Sign-in exists only for our own editorial staff. Readers do not need an account, and we do not create one for you.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell or rent personal information.
  • We do not build advertising profiles or run retargeting.
  • Wildwood Living may display paid sponsorships and advertising. Sponsored content and paid placements are identified as such. Advertising relationships do not determine our organic rankings, recommendations, editorial coverage or verification decisions.
  • We do not knowingly collect information from children.
  • We do not require an account to read anything on this site.

Cookies and similar technologies

This site sets measurement cookies from the analytics services named above. They tell us how many people used a page and how they moved through the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time; nothing on this site depends on them.

Third parties

Pages may embed video from YouTube. We use the privacy-enhanced player and it does not load until you choose to play the video, so no YouTube cookie is set unless you press play.

Links out to a business's own website, booking system or map take you to a service with its own privacy policy. We are not responsible for what those services collect.

How long we keep things

Technical server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and diagnosis. Aggregate measurement data is kept for as long as it is useful for improving the site. Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle and evidence a correction.

Your choices

You can browse without giving us any information about yourself. You can block cookies and analytics in your browser or with an extension. If you have written to us and want your message deleted, ask and we will delete it.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes materially, the effective date above changes with it. Questions about privacy go to the contact page.
